Alpha Alpha Committee Responsibilities
Communications/Technology
Keeps public informed about Society goals, programs, and activities
Incorporates state and international news into chapter programs
Suggests names of capable writers for The Bulletin to the international editor
Reports chapter news to state and international publications
Compiles and distributes the newsletter to all members, Xi State President, Xi State Editor, Xi State Communications Chair, and Area Director
Design and maintain website
Present technology advances to Chapter members
Finance
Estimates chapter expenses
Provides an audit for treasurer’s books
Supervises expenditures and investments of chapter funds
May suggest a chapter assessment
International Project/Expansion
Informs members about women from countries where DKG is not organized and who have received monies for advanced studies
Encourages voluntary contributions to the World Fellowship
Maintain a model and assist with installation of new chapters
Generates enthusiasm
Provides program with Music committee
Legislative/Leadership
Informs members of legislation affecting members
Solicits participation in effort to promote desirable legislation affecting education
Provides program
Promotes the work of leadership training
Personal and professional development
Encourages members to participate in leadership activities for growth
Literacy/High School Essay
Encourage the enjoyment of reading as a recreational outlet
Support XI State CIEC and report CIEC news to Alpha Alpha members
Promote the visibility and productivity of Alpha Alpha’s and State literacy projects
Relay guidelines and format for the annual high school essay contest with a topic for the contest
Distribute contest information to participating high schools
Follow-up contest with high schools and send to XI State
Membership
Conducts election to membership
Contacts members about absences
Keeps chapter history
Keeps a biographical file on chapter members
Conducts necrology service
Arranges for reorientation activities
Provides program for initiation
Music
Plan and contribute music for monthly meetings
Assist with programs
Educate members with DKG songs
Provides programs with Expansion Committee
Nominations
Searches for candidates with qualifications outlined in Handbook
Presents a slate of elected officers in even numbered years
Sends names of newly elected officers to state president and international executive secretary
Personal Growth and Services/Project Committee
Plans activities to improve the quality of daily living
Encourages women to seek leadership roles
Provides opportunities for developing better human relationships
Encourages participation in study groups within the chapter
Plans, hosts February Book Review meeting
Provides basket for members to donate items for cancer patients
Transports donated items to hospice/cancer society
Informs members of cancer patients’ needs
Conveys information between Alpha Alpha and hospice/cancer society
Organizes volunteers for the Books from Birth Campaign
Professional Affairs
Promotes action to improve the status of women
Responsible for a professional affairs program
Provides program for professional growth and education with Leadership committee
Research & History
Conducts research
Invites people doing important research in education to present study at chapter meetings
Publicizes DKG research projects
Reviews research pertinent to purposes of Society
Meets with president
Provides program with Legislative committee
Rules
Submit, for member understanding, amendments that update XI State Bylaws and XI State Rules as needed to keep the documents current with state practices and in line with the latest edition of the Constitution and International Standing Rules
Call for revised chapter rules and submit revisions in every biennium
Scholarship/Alpha Alpha Achievement Award
Assists with raising of funds for scholarships
Informs members of funds available for advanced study
Encourages members to apply for available scholarships
Seek nominations for Achievement Award and Order of the Rose
Select the recipients of awards
Present nominations and recipients to Chapter
Strategic Planning
Provides for a continuous review and updating of identified action programs that implement the seven purposes and the mission of the Society
Develop and revise as needed an individual chapter action plan

Plans, coordinates, supervises, and assesses programs
Sees that the international program theme is used
Arranges for Founder’s Day ceremony
Provides for observance of chapter birthday
